3 Levels of EV chargers
Level 1 charger
Electric vehicles come with a level 1 charger. These plug directly into a 120 volt AC outlet. The power output in range is equivalent to about 3-5 miles per hour. So an overnight charge will add about 30-50 miles of range to your vehicles battery.
Level 2 charger
Level 2 charging equipment is much faster than level 1. These are dedicated charging stations for your EV. They use a 240 volt AC plug and an electrician is required for installation. An upgrade to your electric service may be necessary.
Level 3 charger
Level 3 chargers are more suited to industrial applications. They are incredibly fast but very difficult to install in a home.
